Pumpkin Pie

Woooooah, Pumpkin Pie home fragrance wax tarts by Yankee Candle are amazingggg.  Seriously.  This scent was extremely fragrant right away (check plus!) - I didnt even need to wait for the whole tart to melt.
The room was filled with the smell of pumpkin plus a cinnamon hint, but also had a cider hint to it... like an apple cider pumpkin pie! Geez, so good.

Sponge Nails - Halloween Edition

So, I did Sponge Nails earlier this year (click to see) which turned out way, way better than this version did. I still think Sponge Nails are awesome - and a fun process. This time around, I went for some Halloween colors but because they were a bit more watered-down, the end result didn't come out as strong. What do you think?

Harvest

I looooove Autumn and anything Autumn themed. So I may have went a little crazy during my latest shopping trip to Yankee Candle and purchased a whole bunch of seasonsal scents. The first one I tried is called Harvest. It's very subtle but has a great cinnamon, deep autumn type scent. Anyone else try this one?

Pinterest Fail - Baked Strawberries

I've seen online that a lot of people have been trying things from Pinterest and failing- there's even a website devoted to that very topic! But, alas, my blog is about trying new things, whether or not they fail or succeed.

Well, I spotted Baked Strawberries on Pinterest and was intrigued. The directions say to dry out strawberries in the oven by baking them for 3 hours. I love Twizzlers and candy, and dried fruit is a good option to snack on, so I thought it'd be a good one to try!

The recipe online says to dice the strawberries and then sprinkle salt and pepper over them. I thought that was strange and considered sprinkling sugar on top of the strawberries instead. But, I decided to follow the directions and add salt and pepper.

Well... as you can see in my photo, this didn't totally work. Some strawberries had burnt through before the end of the bake time, so I had to turn off the oven early. Most of the strawberries were painfully stuck to the pan. Some strawberries were still "raw" and wet.. or wet on one half only. And then a few of the strawberries reached the desired end result. I may try this again, but this time I won't dice the strawberries as small as I did this time... I'm thinking larger pieces may help this turn out correctly?

Has anyone else tried the Baked Strawberries from Pinterest? Any personal Pinterest fails to share?

3 Swatches

I guess I always wind up going for minty greens... I feel like this is the third I've bought in the last couple months.. and I realize they are all starting to look the same! This one is Pastel Pop from Charolette Russe.

This orange swatch is Hazard by Sinful Colors. The photo looks quite orange, and actually one person asked me if this color was 'pumpkin' but I swear in person the color was much more coral looking. I couldn't capture the pinkish tones on camera for some reason.

And then this last swatch here was a weird moment I had... I polished my nails white and then tried a light pink tip, but it wound up barely showing.

Almond Cookie tart

Alright.... this home fragrance tart disappoints me! Almond Cookie, by Yankee Candle, sounds like it would be so delightful, but I couldn't smell a thing!! And I have a very sensitive sense of smell where I can pick up any faint scents... but when lit I couldn't even smell this at all! I kept sticking my nose close to the burning tart and still couldn't smell anything. Oh well.
