Red velvet cake is a favorite in my house... and what really makes red velvet cake good is the cream cheese frosting! Using vanilla or something else just isn't the same, am I right? I even bought brandie new baking pans for this because I needed new round pans. However, this concoction somehow tasted weird. And I made this with a box mix and packaged icing... nothing from scratch- so where did I go wrong? I wound up throwing out most of this cake. At least we could still eat the leftover icing ha!

Sugar Spun Nails.. but not really
Well, I thought Sugar Spun Nails looked so cool on all the other blogs.. but when I tried it, it totally didn't work lol! It still came out with a cool textured, lined manicure- but its not really Sugar Spun. The polish never really got thick the way I understand it's supposed to. Instead of dragging the thickened polish over my nails, it was more like I drew the lines on with a toothpick. Any tips anyone?

Black and White Water Marble Nails
Marble Monday! If you read my blog regularly, you know Water Marbling is prob my favorite technique. You never know what you're gonna get, but even if it doesn't look all feathery and professional, it still looks cool!
For this manicure, I used white and black polish, but as you can see- a lot of it turned out gray by mixing together.
Again, to see my other water marbled nails click here and for my post with instructions on How-To do water marbling click here. And as always, I have to request- please tell me in my comments which of the marbles is your favorite one!! Thanks. :)

Birthday & Crackle Nails
I spent quite a while googling and pinning ideas for birthday nails and came across so many amazing designs. Between the birthday cakes, candles, and balloons, I was impressed. Well, needless to say, I do not do handmade painted designs- I just don't have that talent! So I needed something simple. I thought... hm ok birthday nails can mean glitter. But I'm not a glitter type of person.... so maybe something more metallic looking? I wound up doing a pretty boring birthday nail manicure, but here it is.
I used Wet'n'Wild Metallica for accent nails (thumb and ring finger) and then Sinful Colors This Is It for the rest. One day later, I was too bored with the results so I added OPI Black Shatter. I've used the Shatter before, which results in a Crackle nail look... but I've always been torn about the crackle look. Does it look cool? Or does it really just look like a chipped manicure? It's still up for debate in my mind. What is your opinion about Crackle nails?
